Palmenwald, Freudenstadt in the Schwarzwald

Project completion:
The project was completed in 2001
ABOUT THE PROJECT:
Hotel Palmenwald was built in 1896 as a house for private accommodation and relaxing holidays. From 1900 to 1909, the hotel was used to conduct “housekeeping and cookery courses for educated young girls”. After 1909, after the opening of the Stuttgart-Freudenstadt railway, the hotel was used for balneological center. During the First World War, the hotel served as a standby hospital, and in March 1919 reopened as a balneological hotel. After extensive renovations in August 1920, the hotel again began to operate as a spa hotel. Gradually, the rooms are equipped with running water. At the outbreak of World War II, the hotel was once again converted into a hospital. It remained undamaged after the destruction of Freudenstadt in April 1945 and is open to homeless families.
Another major renovation followed and in 2010 “Das Palmenwald Schwarzwaldhof” reopens again with a new owner – Stefan Sharlopov. The hotel shines again, in the style of the time when it was founded.
We worked together with the German company “4SPA” GmbH during the entire renovation process – from the initial planning to the final touches.
The entrance room of the hammam provides a place to relax in a pleasant environment for those using the procedure. From there, you can enter the paid procedures – Ayurvedic massage room, classic massage rooms and a room for wet SPA treatments.
The Hammam and the steam bath are lined with handmade ceramics from the German company Art Ceramic Concept.
